The proposal also assumes that. other than a limited number of <br />paper prints for our internal team meetings, our submittals will be in digital format for printing by you. Any submittals, <br />revisions, meetings, printings. or presentations not described above will be an additional service to be authorized by <br />you in advance. Any substantial modification to the schedule may also impact our compensation, to be negotiated with <br />you as necessary. <br /> <br />As you also know. we spoke before I left for sabbatical about the effort we expended to prepare for presentation to <br />City Council in September. We agreed that it was in everyone's interest to do a good job, and that it required adequate <br />resources. Our original proposal prepared in Fall 2004 (attached for ready reference) outlined two meetings with staff, <br />one public hearing (to the ARC) and three submittals. The total fee was $29.000 and included VKK Signmakers as <br />subconsultants to us. The fee assumed a focused time period. with work to be completed over a three month period. As <br />we worked with you and Susan Moeller to find a satisfactory design, the effort stretched from January to September, <br />over more than nine months. It required at least ten staff meetings. introduction of Cork Marcheschi to the project and <br />coordination with him, an unanticipated public meeting. a rehearsal for and presentation to City Council. We made <br />more than six submittals of work products. In September as we were striving to meet the demands of the City Council <br />preparation, I asked you for compensation for this unanticipated additional effort.
