Item No. 3 (continued)
M /S: Britschgi /Bury to deny the application of Baryoly Ashufta for a food
vendor permit.
FINDINGS: and that the following findings are made:
1. The issuance of the permit would be detrimental to the public health
and welfare in that it would encourage without appropriate limitation
the congregation of persons and other vehicles;
2. Obstruction of traffic could occur, particularly given the narrowness
of the City's rights-of-way;
3. No area is designated as to the location of this particular vending
vehicle; and
4. Appropriate limitations have not been either proposed by the applicant
or accepted by the Council.
The motion carried by voice vote: 6 ayes, 1 no.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 87 -50
CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire noted it was the consensus of Council that the staff
report back to Council on suggested changes to the ordinance relating to
street vendors. (memo 3/10/87)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
a. Betty Casey, 427 Hillway Drive, representing the McKinley School PTA,
distributed flyers regarding the basketball game between the 49ers and
McKinley Maniacs, Tuesday, March 24, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. at Canada College,
noting that Mayor Claire was playing for the Maniacs.
b. Carol Banqert, 3015 East Bayshore, #131, representing the Harbor Village
Homeowners Association, noted that a letter in the Almanac said that the
upgrading of Blomquist Avenue has been delayed and asked how this would
affect the installation of the traffic signal at Seaport Boulevard and
Blomquist.
City Engineer Addiego advised that the traffic signal will be installed as
planned and only minor modifications will be required when Blomquist Avenue
is widened.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
Reg.Mtg.
3/9/87
Page 3
MINUTE BOOK NO. 47
Page No. 65
