Item No. 5 (continued)
M /S: Stangle / Britschgi to close the public hearing.
Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 8:37 p.m.
Title read. M /S: Bury / Stangel
ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 60.20.15 TO ORDINANCE 1130, THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING
ORDINANCE, REZONING PROPERTY AT REDWOOD SHORES (AREA 7 11 )
approved for first reading unanimously by roll call vote.
----------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
6. Public Hearing - Proposed Abatement of Nuisance,
124 Lincoln Avenue (702 -11)
Report: Building Official 8/4/87
Affidavits of Notice of Mailing and of Posting are on file.
At the request of City Attorney Schricker, Building Official LaTorra,
Building Inspector Schnell and Albert E. Davies were sworn with regard to
testimony to be given at the hearing
Mr. LaTorra and Mr. Schnell presented the subject report using slides
depicting the conditions on the property. Mr. LaTorra noted that only the
structures in the rear currently being used as three living units are
proposed to be demolished.
Mr. Schnell stated for the record that with regard to item 3. in his letter
of August 3 to Mr. LaTorra, that less than 50% of the property is covered by
buildings rather than the 85% mentioned and that all other zoning and
building code violations have been verified and are accurate.
Vice Mayor Chandler declared the public hearing open at 8:54 p.m.
Albert H. Davies, 1101 E1 Camino Real, owner of the subject property, said
that if the structures being used for housing are razed that adequate,
comfortable, low income housing will be lost, suggesting that those occupying
it have been accustomed to less. Mr. Davies acknowledged the buildings do
not have proper foundations and need painting, but said it would be practical
to retain the substandard units. Mr. Davies requested that he be permitted
to have the buildings vacated by the end of August and then retain someone to
determine if the buildings can be made habitable for tennants, sand that when
the determination is made, he would report back to Council.
Vice Mayor Chandler invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so.
No one wished to speak.
M /S: Britschgi /Bury to close the public hearing.
Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 9:06 p.m.
Reg.Mtg.
8/10/87
Page 5
MINUTE BOOK NO. 47
Page No. 225
