Oral Communications (continued) <br />In response to questions of City Attorney Schricker regarding the legal <br />proceedings referred to which were brought against Mrs. Weible by the <br />District Attorney, Ms. Weibel acknowledged that the proceedings were criminal <br />and the question of police brutality was not a part of the trial, and there <br />was no finding of police brutality. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a) Councilman Britschgi inquired about the report on the parking trial at <br />Arch and Birch Streets. City Manager Smith said it will be given to Council <br />on August 24, 1987. <br />MEMO 8/11/87 <br />b) Councilman Bury inquired as to whether the City is enforcing the 36- minute <br />parking meters between Broadway and Brewster on Saturdays, noting merchants <br />are concerned at the lack of turnover. <br />c) Councilman Bury inquired as to the kind of activities taking place at the <br />Armory in Community Park and the type of permits needed for bingo games. <br />MEMO 8/11/87 <br />d) CONSENSUS: Vice Mayor Chandler determined it to be the consensus of Council <br />that arrangements be made for a Saturday morning breakfast with Assemblyman <br />Sher and asked City Manager to do so. <br />MEMO 8/11/87 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />8. Traffic Committee report and recommendation re Closure <br />of Warwick Street Bridge (continued form 7/27/87) <br />(1604 -02) <br />City Manager Smith presented a letter of August 7, 1987 from the City Manager <br />of the City of San Carlos relating to the proposed traffic restrictions on <br />Warwick Street, stating that the matter is being considered by that City <br />Council this evening. <br />Robert Brown, 993 Durlston Road, suggested the two cities get together and <br />discuss the problem and attempt to resolve it. <br />Agnes Casaretto, 100 Stanford Lane, San Carlos, part owner of property on <br />Finger Avenue, said that although all of the traffic passes in front of her <br />home, she opposes closing the bridge. <br />Dennis Hansen, 222 Finger Avenue, agreed with Mrs. Casaretto in opposing <br />closing the Bridge or a one -way street on Warwick. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />8/10/87 <br />Page 7 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 47 <br />Page No. 227 <br />
