2. Public Hearing - Application for Certificate of Public <br />Convenience and Necessity, San Mateo Service <br />Corporation, San Mateo dba City Cab Co. - Roberto <br />Lazatin, Applicant (1602 -06) <br />Report: Deputy Police Chief 8/20/87 <br />Affidavit of Publication of Notice of Hearing is on file. <br />Vice Mayor Chandler declared the public hearing open at 8:00 p.m. <br />Roberto Lazatin, 1634 South Grant, San Mateo, Applicant, said in response to <br />questions that he expects to have a garage in Belmont; that he will have a <br />Redwood City phone number; he will offer airport service to San Francisco, <br />San Jose and Oakland; he has made some study of the local market; he has <br />certificates from Menlo Park, San Carlos and Belmont and applications <br />pending in San Mateo and Foster City; five cabs will serve the Redwood City <br />area; he will use beige cabs identified as "City Cab Co. "; and that he has no <br />objection to a condition relating to an early commencement of taxi service. <br />In response to question, Police Chief Guardino said that all cabs operating <br />in the City are passing tests, any deficiencies are promptly corrected, and <br />there have been no problems. <br />Vice Mayor Chandler invited anyone else who wished to speak to do so. No <br />one else wished to speak. <br />M /S: Stangel /Greenalch to close the public hearing <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 8:12 p.m. <br />In response to question, City Attorney Schricker said that applications for <br />Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity can be rejected on grounds <br />specified in Section 33.6. of the Code. <br />M /S: Bury / Britschgi to deny the subject application. <br />The motion failed on the following roll call vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmen Britschgi, Bury <br />Noes: Councilmen Greenalch, LaBerge, Stangel and Vice Mayor Chandler <br />Title read. M /S: Stangel /Greenalch <br />RESOLUTION NO. 10609 DECLARING THAT PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY REQUIRE <br />ADDITIONAL TAXICAB SERVICE; GRANTING A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE TO <br />ROBERTO LAZATIN, DBA CITY CAB; AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO ISSUE TAXICAB <br />PERMITS PURSUANT THERETO; and that it is a condition of the Certificate that <br />the operation must commence with six months. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />8/24/87 <br />Page 3 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 47 <br />Page No. 338 <br />
