Item No. 3 (continued) <br />Mayor Claire declared the public hearing open at 8:14 p.m. <br />Curtis L. Bunch, 1257 Shoal Drive, San Mateo, applicant, urged approval of <br />his application. In response to questions, Mr. Bunch said that he has been <br />requested to stand at the Sofitel Hotel; that he would expect to cruise much <br />of the time; that he will install a Redwood City telephone number; that he <br />has been in the taxi business since May 1987 but is experienced in the <br />limousine business in San Mateo, San Carlos and Belmont; and that he will <br />offer 24 -hour service. <br />Curtis Pruitt, 645 Old County Road, Belmont, Manager and part -owner in the <br />taxi business said he was previously with San Mateo Yellow Cab. <br />Mayor Claire invited anyone else who wished to speak to do so. No one wished <br />to speak. <br />M /S: Chandler /Stangel to close the public hearing. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 8:25 p.m. <br />Title read. M /S: Chandler /LaBerge <br />RESOLUTION NO. 10622 DECLARING THAT PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY REQUIRE <br />ADDITIONAL TAXICAB SERVICE; GRANTING A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE TO <br />CURTIS L. BUNCH, DBA MERIT TAXI & LIMOUSINE SERVICE; AND AUTHORIZING CITY <br />CLERK TO ISSUE TAXICAB PERMITS PURSUANT THERETO <br />adopted unanimously by roll call vote. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council to ask <br />for a staff report after three months (12/14/87) on the status of taxi <br />service and the businesses operating in the City. He said that the <br />Stembergas are experienced in the operation of the kind of facility proposed, <br />noting it is not a nursing home and the residents are non - ambulatory in the <br />legal sense, but are not bed patients and would merely require some <br />assistance in emergency situations.
