They said they are willing to clean up the debris and do <br />whatever might be possible to permit them to live in the building while <br />seeking other housing. <br />Mayor Britschgi invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so. No <br />one wished to speak. <br />M /S; Stangel /Claire to close the public hearing. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 8:32 p.m. <br />M/S : Rhodes/Claire to continue the subject public hearing for 90 days in <br />order to give the tenants the opportunity to find other housing. <br />In response to question, City Attorney Schricker said that if the building is <br />condemned, the owner would have a 30 -day period in which to demolish or <br />reconstruct it after which the City can assume jurisdiction and have it <br />demolished at the owner's expense. He noted that the City offers relocation <br />counseling services and may be able to help the tenants find replacement <br />housing. <br />MOTION CHANGED: Councilman Rhodes, with the consent of his second, changed <br />his motion to continue the public hearing for 60 days, noting that the owner <br />would then have 30 days to demolish or reconstruct the building, allowing the <br />tenants a 90 -day period. <br />The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER N0. 86 -66 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />6.
