Public Hearing - Resolution of Intention of the <br />Planning Commission to rezone property at 811 Whipple <br />Avenue and 1225 Warren Street (Whipple Lodge) from <br />"R -5 -7 (Multifamily--High Density -- Transient <br />esidential Units Combining) District to "R -5" <br />(Multifamily--High Density) District (203 -02) <br />Planning Commission records transmitted 5/27/86 <br />Affidavits of Publication of Notice of Hearing and of Mailing are on file. <br />In response to question, Community Development Director Schroeter said that <br />the buildings have not been vacated within the 30 -day period required by the <br />Council action of March 10, 1986, (see Council Minutes 3/10/86). Mr. <br />Schroeter said that inspection of the buildings has just been completed and <br />the owners notified. In further response to question as to whether or not <br />the vacation was dependent upon notification following inspection, Mr. <br />Schroeter said that the vacation condition has been a requirement since <br />March 10, and owners were notified of it. <br />Mayor Claire declared the public hearing open. <br />Michael D. McCracken, 1301 Shoreway, Belmont, attorney representing the <br />owners of Whipple Lodge, requested the matter be continued for three to six <br />months to allow him time to discuss it with staff, stating the owners oppose <br />the proposed rezoning. <br />Judy Buchan, 1126 Allerton, favored the proposed rezoning and requested that <br />no continuance be allowed in view of the long history of delays relating to <br />the subject property. <br />Mayor Claire invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so. No <br />one wished to speak. <br />M /S: Greenalch /Stangel to close the public hearing. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 8:05 p.m. <br />M /S: Chandler/ to grant a 30 day continuance to the owners of <br />Whipple Lodge. <br />Motion failed for lack of a second. <br />Reg.Mtg.
