(See below page 6 <br />statement re mailing and personal notice to adjacent property owners.) <br />Joseph Mandolfo, Chairman, Housing and Human Concerns Committee, stated he <br />believes the site is a good one for the project, noting that the building has <br />been for sale for some time. <br />Mayor Claire declared the public hearing open at 8:12 p.m. and stated that <br />the testimony of Mr. Mandolfo is part of the record. <br />Carol Severin, Emergency Housing Consortium, 260 Van Buren, Menlo Park, who <br />will be Shelter Coordinator, described the program, prospective tenants, <br />shelter staff and the building security. <br />In response to request, Housing Coordinator Church stated that seniors and <br />disabled are included in the Redwood City shelter program in accordance with <br />previous Council direction. <br />Carol Severin (see above) also presented the relocation program for present <br />tenants of the subject building, copy of which had been provided to Council. <br />Fran Wagstaff, Mid Peninsula Housing Coalition Fund, the non - profit <br />organization which is proposed to own the facility, presented background <br />relating to selection of the building. <br />John Cooper, 609 Lancaster, who served on the Housing and Human Concerns <br />Committee's task forces on site selection and philosophy, supported the <br />acquisition of the subject building for the program, stating it is well - <br />located, in good condition, secure, has adequate cooking facilities in each <br />unit and is suitable for the program. Mr. Cooper noted the building is for <br />sale, and present tenants could expect rent increases and possible displace- <br />ment by a new owner, noting they are being offered a relocation payment. <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 46 <br />Page No. 280 <br />Reg.
