PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued - see above) <br />3. Public Hearing - Planning Commission Resolution of <br />Intention to amend the Zoning Ordinance to allow <br />housing for the elderly in all residential zoning <br />districts at densities higher than those permitted for <br />regular housing (203 -02) <br />Planning Commission record transmitted 7/14/86 <br />Affidavit of publication of Notice of Hearing is on file. <br />Community Development Director Schroeter presented the subject record. <br />In response to inquiry, Senior Assistant City Attorney Case said that the <br />proposed ordinance should also include R -2 and R -4 residential districts and <br />that the omission was a clerical error, noting those designations appear <br />everywhere elsewhere in the record. <br />In response to question, Mr. Schroeter said that guidelines exist for parking <br />and planned development permits would be required; that it is likely most of <br />the senior residences being discussed at this time will not be constructed; <br />and that building height in the various residential districts remains the <br />same with the change relating to density only. <br />Beryl Darnell, Vice President, Senior Affairs Commission, said the Commission <br />generally agrees with the Planning Commission recommendation and that the <br />Commission intends to work with the Planning Commission on the matter in the <br />future. <br />Frank Esposito, Oregon Avenue, commented concerning the public facility <br />zoning district and was advised that the subject under discussion has nothing <br />to do with PF Districts. <br />Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood Road, said she has concerns about some of the <br />senior housing proposals she has heard of and urged that Redwood City be kept <br />integrated with regard to age groups and young people encouraged to live here <br />also. <br />Mayor Claire invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so.
