Item No. 7 (continued)
M /S: Chandler /Greenalch to grant a Variance from the Zoning Ordinance to
allow a health club to operate at 345 Fuller Street with 59 off - street
parking spaces where 125 spaces are required, and to authorize a Use Permit
to allow 40 of the 59 spaces to be located on a nonadjacent parcel, separated
by a street, but within 400 feet.
Carried unanimously by voice vote.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
MINUTE ORDER NO. 86 -153
1. Carl Kriletich, 70 Foss Drive, inquired as to why Canyon Road has not been
improved or maintained like other city streets, stating new development in
the area has caused increased traffic. Mr. Kriletich said that neighbors in
the area wish to improve the street and ask the Director of Public Works to
come up with a plan to do so which would include sidewalks. Mr. Kriletich
said that he understands property owners must pay for street improvement for
their property and offered to do whatever may be possible to stimulate
interest.
City Manager Smith confirmed that it is up to property owners to pay for
streets, unless cost of the improvements are proposed to be borne by the
general property owners who have already paid for street improvements in
their own neighborhoods. Mr. Smith reported that attempts to establish the
necessary assessment district have failed in the Canyon Road area in the past
and that the City does not do more than minimal maintenance on secondary
roads which do not meet basic standards.
Mayor Claire and Councilman Bury offered to meet with Mr. Kriletich and the
Director of Public Works to discuss the matter during the first week of
September.
MEMO 8/21/86
GENERAL
1. Councilman Britschgi asked for Council consideration of an effort to attempt
to keep the 49ers in Redwood City, suggesting a "blue ribbon" committee.
M /S: Britschgi /Greenalch to establish a "blue ribbon" committee to evaluate
the 49ers situation and a possible training site in Redwood City which would
meet their needs and keep them here. (NOTE: suggestion was made that the
Mayor could appoint such members as the president of the Chamber of Commerce,
and representatives of the Ministerial Association, the Peninsula Celebration
Association and the Board of Education, Downtown Association, Board of
Realtors, Redwood Shores, Inc., the service clubs, the neighborhood
associations and senior groups.)
Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
Reg.
