Proposed sign - Marshalls Store, 2545 E1 Camino Real <br />(Terranomics Development Corporation) (203 -09) <br />Report of City Manager and Chief Building Official 7/12/85 <br />Chief Building Official Malkemus and Planning Director Schroeter commented <br />and replied to questions regarding the requirements under the Code. <br />M /S: Bury /Chandler to approve the staff recommendation that the request for <br />a specific ordinance change to accommodate a specific case be denied, and <br />that the applicant conform to the requirements of the present ordinances. <br />Carried by the following roll call vote: <br />Ayes: Bury, Chandler, Mosher and Mayor Britschgi <br />Noes: Rhodes, Stangel <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 85 -108 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />9. Report re Fireworks - 1985 (1003 -02) <br />Report of City Manager July 18, 1985, attaching report of Fire Chief 7/16/85 <br />Fire Chief O'Brien summarized the activities and incidents related to fires <br />and fireworks during the July 4th celebration; the costs of providing an <br />engine company to stand by in Redwood Shores; noted that Redwood City is the <br />only city in the immediate area that still permits sale of "safe and sane" <br />fireworks; and commented on the serious fires occurring in neighboring <br />communities during the period which required that everyone in his department <br />be available. He noted that he has recommended for years banning all <br />fireworks and encouraging the public to view the public display. <br />M /S: Mosher /Stangel to amend the Fire Code to delete the portion relating to <br />safe and sane fireworks. <br />Council requested that service clubs who obtain funds through sale of <br />fireworks be notified of the proposed ordinance amendment, and that <br />information be provided to Council regarding the amount of money obtained by <br />them through such sales. <br />Motion carried by the following roll call vote: <br />Ayes: Bury, Chandler, Mosher, Stangel, Mayor Britschgi <br />Noe s: Rhodes <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 85 -109 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />(Council recessed from 9:05 to 9:15 p.m. ) <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />10.
