ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 1) H. Steven Burnside, 2211 Park Boulevard, Palo Alto, representing homeowners on Hi llcrest Drive, described a problem the residents have been experiencing every winter for a number of years regarding runoff and drainage from Upland Road across an unimproved section of Hi llcrest Drive, and then across a paved section, bringing mud and silt down the street. He requested Council cooperation in coming together with the homeowners and the County to find a solution to the problem. (101 -05) 2) Lyn Gardella, 680 Hillcrest Drive, reported that he has observed the progressive deterioration of Hi llcrest Drive during the past twelve years. There being no objection, Mayor Britschgi ordered the matter referred to staff for investigation and report. (MEMO 9/20/85) 3) Steven Howard, 907 Katherine, commented on the lack of cleanup by crews maintaining traffic islands. (101 -05) City Manager Smith noted that the City has its inspectors constantly following through on projects. Mayor Britschgi ordered that oral communications regarding Agenda Item No. 21 (second reading of Ordinance relating to "safe and sane fireworks "), will be taken out of order at this time. 4) George E. Gaddy, 1704 Alameda de las Pulgas, Commander of American Legion Post 105, presented a petition headed, "Citizens in Favor of Placing the Fireworks Issue on the April Ballot - Keep Dangerous and Illegal Fireworks Out of Redwood City ", and which he stated contained 2,866 signatures. He said that if the Council did not reverse its position on the ordinance, it should be put to the voters of the City. 5) Lee Zusman, 1110 Tuolumne Road, Millbrae, associated with Sea Scouts, Boy Scouts of America, stated that their only purpose in selling fireworks is to help the young people, and asked Council's cooperation. 6) John Wolsdorf, 3361 Nevada, El Monte, representing OSSF (Organization for Safe and Sane Fireworks), stated that the organization represents numerous charities in California, and handles only fireworks sales, and asked Council to reconsider its decision regarding the ordinance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- REPORTS OF BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES 4.
