Item No. 4 (continued) <br />Boris Wolper, 555 Veterans Boulevard, stated that he had received <br />notification of the meeting. <br />City Attorney Schricker recommended that, in view of the fact that the <br />hearing is an informal one, and publication and mailing of official notice <br />was not required, that action may be taken by Council, subject to <br />verification by the City Clerk's office that the appellant was notified of <br />the hearing. <br />M /S: Claire /Mosher to deny the appeal and uphold the decision of the Zoning <br />Administrator to approve a Use permit and Architectural Permit, subject to <br />eight conditions in the Notice of Official Action, finding that the project <br />was in conformance with the Downtown Plan, met the requirements of the Zoning <br />Ordinance, and was compatible with the surrounding land uses. (The motion is <br />contingent upon verification by the City Clerk's office that notification was <br />mailed to the appellant, the applicant, and others expressing interest in the <br />matter.) <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 85 -146 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />5. Presentation - Woodside Plaza Shopping Center plans <br />and schedule (702 -02) <br />City Manager Smith noted that at the previous meeting, Council had requested <br />more information regarding an item on the Consent Calendar for that meeting <br />for approval of a revocable encroachment permit, and which has been carried <br />over to tonight's agenda, for the Woodside Plaza Shopping Center. All <br />appropriate permits for the renovation and reconstruction had already been <br />approved. <br />Tom Boyd, representing James W. Foug & Associates, Architects, 2600 E. <br />Bayshore, Palo Alto, described the proposal, referring to drawings of the <br />site plan and artists's renderings, and explained the reasons for the request <br />for the encroachment permit. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />(1) Edward G. Stein, 3641 Jefferson Avenue, stated his concerns regarding the <br />traffic on Jefferson Avenue, particularly between the 3500 and 3800 blocks, <br />citing Kaino s Home, Roy Cloud School, Community Center, motorcycle and truck <br />traffic as reasons for excessive traffic volume and traffic noise. He <br />suggested more stop signs. <br />(2) Virqinia Geller, 3648 Jefferson, stated she has lived there for 25 years and <br />objects to the increase and speed of traffic.
