Item No. 1 (continued)
Peter Uccelli, Pete's Harbor, appellant, referred to the aerial photo of the
site and suggested there is room for a roadway at the rear of the property
without the need to acquire Alan Steel property or to affect the marsh. Mr.
Uccelli said that the traffic study does not cover his peak dinner hours when
there is considerable traffic.
Carl -- - - - - -, 70 Foss Drive, urged that no City funds be spent in connection
with the theatre project and that a long term study be prepared for the area
by the applicant.
Mayor Claire pointed out that there is no expenditure of City funds involved
in the theatre project.
Raymond Syuf.y, owner of Syufy Enterprises, said that there is a lack of movie
theatres locally causing residents of this distribution area to have to drive
some distance to see popular movies and that the project will be an
attractive addition to the community. Mr. Syufy urged approval of the Use
Permit.
In response to questions of Mr. Biagi (see above), Mr. Patterson said that
there is no change in Condition 1. requiring a reserve area for two years for
use as parking, if needed; that it is more desirable to have East Bayshore
traffic improvements paid for by the developer now than to impose a fee for
construction of a bridge some time in the future; and that the Traffic
Engineer did critique the subject traffic study and recommended the addition
of Condition 10.
Mr. Corey, Mr. Myhi l l and Mr. McGuire replied to questions and referred to
their experience at a multi- screen project in Mountain View.
Lincoln - - - - - -, 26140 Rancho Manuela Lane, Los Altos Hills, owner of property
in the area said that the Mountain View project has two entries and that he
expects to build a project on Bair Island Road which will include a
restaurant.
Art Wells, 636 East View Way, owner of property in the area, said he favors
the theatre development but requests that a commitment be made not to take
any private property to solve future traffic problems there.
Mr. Corey presented a seven - minute videotape of various peak hour, left-
turning traffic into the Mountain View Theatre complex.
Mr. Uccelli suggested he might lose restaurant business because of the
theatre complex and cannot expect to be reimbursed for the loss.
Mayor Claire invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so. No
one else wished to speak.
M /S: Chandler /Greenalch to close the public hearing.
Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 10:10 p.m.
Reg.Mtg.
3/14/88
Page 3
MINUTE BOOK NO. 47
Page No. 522
