Item 5, continued
the recommendation of the League of California Cities, noting that a local
ordinance gives the City the opportunity to set up a procedure so permits
may be granted. Mrs. Case suggested that it is considered possible that
future legislation might prevent cities from adopting such an ordinance
and from regulating the subject trucks on city streets.
Discussion continued and Mrs. Case, Mr. Smith and Mr. Addiego replied to
questions relating to the assertion of the CTA that the ordinance is not
needed; the desire of Council to hear from CTA representatives; and the
statement in the CTA letter of December 26, 1984 stating that CTA and the
California Department of Transportation will shortly issue a joint
communique stating that it is not necessary.
In response to questions, Mr. Addiego said that the joint communique mentioned
has not yet been received and that delay in consideration of the ordinance
pending its receipt would not create a problem.
M /S: Stangel /Mosher to delay action with regard to the proposed ordinance
relating to interstate trucks pending receipt of the joint communique from
the California Trucking Association and the California Department of
Transportation mentioned in the CTA letter of December 26, 1984 to the
City Council from Richard W.
