Item No. 2 (continued) Councilman Chandler referred to the Bond Counsel letter reference to a bill having been introduced in the Legislature to increase the annual amount of $900,000,000 multifamily rental housing bonds to $1,500,000,000 and requested the Legislative Committee to review the bill. Approval of plans, specifications and call for bids - Roosevelt Avenue, Phase I - Utilities (702 -02) Report of City Manager and Director of Public Works 1/23/85 Director of Public Works Addiego presented the subject report using slides of the area and of the reconstruction schedule for Phase I of the project. In response to questions, Mr. Addiego said that it will be more economical and create fewer hardships on residents if Roosevelt Avenue surface improvements are delayed until utilities work on Oak Avenue is completed first; that the Traffic Engineer is preparing detour and project signs for the area and information flyers which will be mailed to all residents and distributed to motorists accustomed to using the streets; that every possible effort will be made to provide access to residents and businesses in the affected area; and that it is hoped that during the necessary construction period that those in the area who will benefit from the project will be understanding and cooperative. It was suggested that the Public Works Department contact Mrs. Betty Caceres, 417 Roosevelt Avenue, who was active in urging the City to proceed with the Roosevelt Avenue project to enlist her assistance in informing neighbors of the work to be undertaken there.
