Report re status of Mezes Park area (1302 -02 Mezes)
Report of Deputy Police Chief, Public Works Supervisor, Director of Parks and
Recreation 3/15/85
City Manager Smith said that the subject report does not include reference to
towing of inoperable vehicles, since more than one week is required for
investigation of a solution to the problem.
Judy Buchan, 1126 Allerton, Secretary of Mezes Neighborhood Association,
reported many improvements have occurred in the neighborhood in the past week
and thanked Council and staff for their assistance.
Kim Schoephoerster, 1028 Arguello Street, #5, complained about vehicles not
being towed away and evidence of drinking in the park. She was advised both
subjects are under consideration as reported above by Mr. Smith and on March
11, 1985.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
8. Report re Quality of Life (continued from 3/11/85) (200)
Report of Mayor 12/6/84 on Joint Meeting of Boards, Commissions and
Committees of 11/10/84.
Report of City Manager 12/4/84
Councilman Claire suggested it might be desirable to hold joint meetings of
members of the City Council and all boards, commissions and committes of the
type held on November 10, 1984, on a quarterly basis.
Vice Mayor Mosher suggested that Council members might take it upon
themselves to form committees to investigate and report back on the elements
mentioned as contributing to a high quality of life in the City. She also
suggested City- sponsored training programs for citizens on such subjects as
how to conduct meetings, run for the City Council or become a board or
commission members might be held.
Mayor Britschgi suggested he and Vice Mayor Mosher could assign
responsibility to Council members for task forces and suggested the Manager
might be responsible for encouraging City pride in employees. He also
suggested conducting a sort of "town hall" meeting for citizens in the fall.
Councilman Bury urged that notice of such meeting be widely distributed. He
suggested that perhaps it might be constructive and educational for Council
members to meet with the City Manager and a facilitator as other cities have
done to discuss their roles.
Reg.
