Tom Jordan, Area Agency on Aging, presented a Fair Oaks Senior Center request for <br />and additional $5,360 for needed increased custodial services, instead of the <br />$16,640 recommended. <br />M /S: Chandler /Bury to increase the human services assistance allocation to the <br />TEWCI- Senior Citizens Center from the $16,640 recommended to $22,000 to cover <br />increased custodial needs. <br />Carried by majority voice vote which Mayor Britschgi determined to be 5 to 2. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 84 -97 <br />M /S: Stangel /Bury to approve the allocations to human services indicated on page <br />two. <br />MOTION WITHDRAWN: At the request of Councilman Claire, Councilman Stangel <br />withdrew his motion to allow Councilman Claire to make a motion. <br />M /S: Claire /Mosher to increase the allocation to the Peninsula Oral School from <br />the $3,565 recommended to the full $5,000 requested and to approve all other <br />items. <br />Councilman Rhodes stated he will abstain from voting on assistance to the The <br />Salvation Army, the Police Youth Club and the Summer Jobs for Youth Program, since <br />he is involved with all of them. <br />City Attorney Schricker stated that there is no prohibition with regard to voting <br />if the Council member is not a member of a board of directors or in a policy <br />making position. <br />Mayor Britschgi said he would abstain from voting, with regard to Retired Senior <br />Volunteer Program, since he is a board member. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote with Councilman Rhodes and Mayor Britschgi <br />abstaining as indicated. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 84 -97 <br />Mr. Irizarry requested Council to consider page 60 in the Legislative Policy <br />Determination program stating that $20,000 has been included for continuation of <br />the Neighborhood Boards program. <br />Joe Hardeqree, Director of Neighborhood Boards program reported that the program <br />commenced in Redwood City in the Friendly Acres area and is being established in <br />the E1 Camino Real - Valota Road - Atherton area and in North Fair Oaks. Mr. <br />Hardegree observed that attempts to establish a program in Redwood Shores have not <br />been successful. He urged the program be continued. <br />M /S: Mosher /Claire to continue the Neighborhood Board Program with the $20,000 <br />allocated for that purpose in the Legislative /Policy Determination program of the <br />Policy Development and Implementation Program. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote.
