Proposed consolidation of fire service with Menlo Park Fire Protection District Report of City Manager 3/15/83 Alan Davis, attorney representing the San Mateo County Fire Fighters Local 2400, requested that staff "meet and confer" regarding the impact of any joint powers agreement for consolidated fire services, stating that he believes negotiation on jobs and working conditions of firefighters working for Redwood City is necessary before a final agreement can be made. City Manager Smith advised that management prerogative is involved in the proposed joint powers agreement which is between the two agencies. City Attorney Schricker advised that to "meet and confer" would be contrary to the whole concept of the proposed agreement and that, at most, consideration might be given to "meet and consult ", noting that any such request is premature at this time.
