The City of Redwood City will support measures to reduce pollutants and impervious
surface areas associated with motorized vehicles, and increased number of motor vehicle
trips resulting from development.

Implementation Measures:
The City of Redwood City will implement the San Mateo Countywide Stonnwater
Pollution Prevention Program (STOPPP), or equivalent program's, performance standards.

Impervious Surface Area Minimization
Policies:
The City of Redwood City will require that site designs consider limiting overall site
imperviousness, minimizing directly-connected impervious surfaces and, where feasible,
maximizing on-site infiltration of runoff in areas of new development and redevelopment.

Implementation Measures:
The City of Redwood City will implement the San Marco Countywide Stormwater
Pollution Prevention Program (STOPPP), or equivalent program's, performance
standards.

Drainage Design and Watershed Planning
Policies:
The City of Redwood City will require that site designs work with the natural topography
and drainage patterns to the extent practicable to reduce the amount of grading necessary
and limit disturbance to natural water bodies and natural drainage systems.

The City of Redwood City will minimize stormwater flow and volume impacts resulting
fi-om development to protect creeks and waterways from flooding and erosion impacts by
minimizing impervious surface area.

In making zoning and land use decisions, the City of Redwood City will consider whether
development of specific areas is likely to increase urban runoff pollutants or adversely
affect watershed characteristics. The City of Redwood City will work to avoid, minimize,
and/or mitigate such effects.

Where such measures do not conflict with other municipal purposes or goals, the City of
Redwood City will encourage, via zoning ordinances, compact development located away
fi-om creeks, wetlands, and other sensitive areas.

The City of Redwood City will encourage development projects to follow watershed-
based planning and zoning by examining the project in the context of the entire watershed
or subwatershed.
