The measure will ensure that programs such <br />as libraries and music programs remain and that small classes in the first three <br />grades will continue along with special reading and math programs. <br />Recommendation: <br />Adopt a resolution supporting Measure V, which will be placed before the voters <br />as a mail -in only ballot, with the election to be held on May 3, 2005. (301) <br />RESOLUTION 14634 SUPPORTING MEASURE V, REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL <br />DISTRICT FUNDING FOR CLASSROOM EDUCATION EXCELLENCE ACT OF 2005 <br />M/S Foust/Aguirre to adjourn the Redevelopment Agency Meeting. The motion <br />passed by a unanimous voice vote. <br />6. STUDY SESSION <br />A. Presentation by Dan Burden: Healthy Streets for Healthy People <br />Community Services Development Director Patterson explained Dan Burden's <br />background. <br />Dan Burden made his presentation using a PowerPoint presentation stating that <br />his journey began approximately 9 years ago; he works about 340 days on the <br />road and is introduced to every level of a community's progress. His <br />presentation involved fundamental changes that towns, villages and major cities <br />are going through across America, showing how all of this emerges into a new <br />way of looking at the value of cities and where we want them to go long -term. <br />Public Comment. <br />Peggy Bruggman stated that she is an avid cyclist who cycles to work, for <br />errands and every other opportunity she gets. She stated that since the City has <br />cut back on street sweeping that the streets and lanes are noticeably dirtier. <br />Over the last month of riding she has experienced two flats both due to <br />construction debris, such as nails or screws. She asked if a meeting with cyclists <br />in the area might assist in targeting the popular bicycle routes for extra <br />sweeping. Secondly, she asked that the contractors be reminded to sweep prior <br />to leaving the work area each day.
