Design Surveys - Design surveys will be provided by the Consultant. . The Consultant shall establish project controls using appropriate horizontal and vertical datum. The Consultant shall supplement the topographic mapping with ground surveys for 1"=20' scale base mapping. The Consultant shall field verify all affected drainage facilities, utilities, structures, etc. The Consultant shall provide cross-sections for the affected portions of existing local streets . The Consultant shall verify the final design at conforms to existing facilities by field surveys. . . . . Mapping - The Consultant shall provide new aerial topographic mapping for the project to be used as the base map for plan development. 2.2 Geotechnical Investigations. The studies and technical work required for this subtask shall be provided by the Consultant and shall be performed by Parikh Consultants as a sub consultant to CCS Planning and Engineering. The scope of services to be provided by the Consultant, in general, shall include field exploration to determine the existing subsoil conditions, laboratory tests (R-values and other necessary tests for index properties), engineering analysis and recommendations for the proposed construction. Roadway and Pavement - . Field Exploration. The field exploration program will consist of obtaining representative bulk samples for R-value determination and for pavement design. Laboratory Tests. Laboratory tests shall include R-value and other necessary tests for soil index properties. Engineering Analysis. The engineering analysis shall consist of pavement design for the proposed widening portion and for overlay recommendations as appropriate. . . Foundation Investigations - The proposed intersection improvements may require the use of a signal mast arm in excess of 55 feet in length; thereby requiring a special pole foundation design. In the event that a special foundation design is required, borings will be dug using a truck-mounted rig at the site of the traffic signal pole location. Classify and log subsurface soil conditions and perform laboratory testing as required to make design recommendations for the special traffic signal pole foundation. In addition, coring of existing pavement sections will also be done. Geotechnical ReDort - The Consultant shall prepare a brief letter report summarizing field exploration, analyses, and recommendations. The Consultant shall prepare a draft report and submit it to the City and other appropriate reviewing agencies for their review. The Final Report shall respond to and incorporate all review comments, as approved by the City.
