The accepted proposal will cover a three <br />month period from June 25. 1998 through September 25. 1998. The following information is <br />intended to describe the desired components of the inspection, give criteria for permit <br />approval and the format to submit the recommendation. <br /> <br />The City of Redwood City has a Tree Preservation Ordinance that protects any tree greater <br />than 38 inches in circumference (12" diameter) measured between six (6) inches and 36 <br />inches above ground. Property Owners interested in pruning or removing trees must first <br />obtain a permit from the Public Works Services Department. In order to make a determination <br />to approve or deny a permit, an inspection must be made that incorporates any information <br />included on the permit application, information gathered during the site inspection or <br />information learned from discussions with the property owner or tree company. After review <br />of the inspection information and recommendation, a permit determination is made. The City <br />encourages the proper maintenance of the sylvan assets on private property. <br /> <br />A sample inspection I recommendation shall be submitted with this proposal to evaluate the <br />. process and format proposed. The tree is a Quercus lobata, located in Palm Park. The park <br />is adjacent to the Sequoia YMCA located at 1445 Hudson Street, Redwood City, CA 94061. <br />The permit application is attached. The property owner is the City of Redwood City. Gordon <br />Mann will represent the City as the property owner for this permit application. <br /> <br />Information, records and photographs: <br />A written inspection report shall be completed for each tree inspected for tr.ee removal <br />permits and each recommendation for denying a pruning permit. The report shall be <br />a standardized form that includes at least: the tree species. diameter measured at <br />ordinance height, observations of the tree and site, any special notes regarding the <br />tree or site conditions and any other pertinent information that was instrumental in <br />reaching your recommendation. All tree removal inspections shall include a <br />photograph of the tree. A simple sketch of the site is beneficial to understanding the <br />situation, and shall be included. A copy of the form currently used by the City for <br />recording site observations is attached. <br /> <br />Inspections are to be completed within six working days of the City's receipt of the <br />permit application. The inspection and recommendation shall be completed within 8 <br />days of the City's receipt of the permit application.
