tree preservation permit applications are received. The six and eight day time periods
will begin from the date of contact.

Criteria for permit approval:
Pruning:
The proposed pruning conforms to the International Society of Arboriculture pruning
guidelines or the ANSI A-300 Pruning Standards.

The work is appropriate, necessary or resolves the concerns of the situation.

The tree company has a valid Redwood City Business License.

Removal:
The tree is dead, dying or structurally unsound.

The tree is causing damage to property and the damage cannot be mitigated in any
appropriate method without causing the removal of the tree.

The property is being developed in a reasonable manner, all permits for construction
are in order and the tree cannot survive the proposed development.

Recommendation:
The recommendation shall be presented to the City in writing within eight working days of the
City's receipt of the permit application.

Pruning:

The format of the recommendation shall include the written
recommendation, the permit application, any other beneficial information.
In the event of a denial recommendation - a copy of the inspection sheet
and a photograph shall be presented to the City.

Tree pruning permit inspections require a site inspection, contact with the property owner in
the event that the proposed pruning is not clear, information provided on the permit application
is not clear, access is needed to inspect the tree or other information is needed.

Removal:

The format of the recommendation shall include the written
recommendation, the permit application, copy of the inspection sheet,
photograph, replanting recommendation and any other useful information
found while performing the inspection.

In the event of an approval recommendation, planting a replacement tree
will be a condition of the removal (if there is adequate space on the
property to reasonably plant a tree in an appropriate location).

In the event of a denial recommendation, the justification of how to
mitigate to alleviate the concerns stated without removing the tree, other
supporting information to reasonably deny the permit request and
minimally a reasonable alternative to tree removal shall be provided.

Gsm/w¡Iwinllr8alc1p - heritoQ.1

'-r-.

. -'.--"'---------r'-.'---..."
