<br />FXS:dft <br /> <br />(;./08/93 (018/11) <br />,14/93R <br /> <br />EXHIBIT A <br /> <br />FINDING OF FACTS RE ORDINANCE NO. 2070 , <br />ENTITLED, "ORDINANCE ADDING SECTIONS 9.47 9.51, <br />INCLUSIVE TO ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AMENDING SPECIFIED SECTIONS OF <br />THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1991 EDITION, RELATING TO <br />ROOFING STANDARDS AND CONSTRUCTION" <br /> <br />Pursuant to Sections 17958.5 and 18941.5 of the California <br /> <br />Heal th and Safety Code, <br /> <br />these findings of fact are adopted in <br /> <br />connection with the <br /> <br />adoption by the Council <br /> <br />of the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City of the above-entitled ordinance (the "Ordinance"). <br /> <br />The <br /> <br />specific <br /> <br />amendments <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />Uniform <br /> <br />Building <br /> <br />Code, <br /> <br />1991 <br /> <br />Edition, enacted pursuant to the Ordinance are more restrictive <br /> <br />in nature than corresponding provisions adopted by the State of <br />California and included in Titles 19, 24 and 25 of the California <br /> <br />Code of Regulations. <br /> <br />The amendments have been adopted to address <br /> <br />unique fire suppression problems caused by climatic, geological <br /> <br />and topographical conditions in the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />The <br /> <br />amendments <br /> <br />enacted <br /> <br />pursuant <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />establish, <br /> <br />in <br /> <br />general, <br /> <br />the requirement that roof covering materials for new <br /> <br />roofs <br /> <br />and the installation of replacement roofs <br /> <br />shall, <br /> <br />as <br /> <br />a <br /> <br />minimum, conform to Class B standards. <br /> <br />The Council of the City <br /> <br />of Redwood City hereby finds and determines that the following <br /> <br />climatic, <br /> <br />geological <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />topographical <br /> <br />conditions <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />circumstances pertaining to the City of Redwood City require the <br /> <br />adoption of the amendments relating to roofing materials and <br />construction established by the Ordinance. <br /> <br />CLIMATIC. <br /> <br />The City on an average experiences an approximate <br /> <br />annual rainfall of 16 to 18 inches. <br /> <br />This rainfall can normally <br /> <br />be expected between October and April. <br /> <br />During the summer months, <br /> <br />- '" ._"----_.--------",,--.",,"""-,, "'..---.----..------"---..--- <br />
