Aerially Deposited Lead

Our sub consultant, GEDeON, will test for aerially deposited lead where the roadway is
to be widened in accordance with Caltrans procedures and guidelines. In general,
GEDeON will excavate 65 hand auger borings to a maximum depth of 0.76 m within the
proposed roadway widening area. Soil samples collected from 0.0 to 0.15 m, 0.30 m to
0.46 m, and 0.61 to 0.76 m below ground surface and will be submitted for laboratory
analysis. The borings will be advanced at 100 meter intervals along the shoulders and
median for a total of 57 borings. In addition, approximately 8 borings will be advanced
along ramps at the Route 84/101 interchange. Traffic control for shoulder closures will
be provided as required by Caltrans.

A Draft report will be prepared in general confonnance to Caltrans requirements to
summarize the results of the field activities and laboratory testing and submitted to the
City of Redwood City for review. Review comments will be incorporated and a final
report will be prepared (four copies).

Phase II Testing (Haz Mat)

Based on the preliminary findings outlined in the Initial Site Assessment, our
sub consultant, GEOCON, will take soil samplings and do testing for soil and
groundwater contamination. It is estimated that 10 soil samples and 5 grab groundwater
samples will be collected for laboratory analysis. Chemical analyses will be perfonned
on all samples. The suite of laboratory analysis includes:

. Total Metals (EP A Method 6010)
. TPHg/BTEX/MTBE (EP A Method 8020)
. TPHdJmo (EPAMethod 8015)
. VOCs (EP A Method 8260)

This task includes securing pennits from San Mateo County for drilling.

Utilities

Existing utilities will be positively identified in accordance with Caltrans' Policy on High
and Low Risk Underground Facilities Within Highway Right of Way.
