<br />35-~ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR, <br />AND THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS TO CERTAIN PROJECTS <br />RELATING TO FEDERAL SURFACE TRANSPORTATION AND <br />CONGESTION MITIGATION AND AIR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT <br />PROGRAMS (RUBBERIZED RAILROAD CROSSINGS IN THE CITIES <br />OF BURLINGAME AND SAN MATEO); AND TO ENDORSE THE <br />REQUIREMENTS OF THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION <br />COMMISSION RELATING TO ALLOCATION OF SUCH FUNDS TO <br />COMPLETE THE PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Transportation Equity Act for the 21 st Century (TEA 21) (Public <br />Law 105-178, June 9, 1998) and the TEA 21 Restoration Act (Public Law 105-206, July <br /> <br />22, 1998) continue the Surface Transportation Program ("STP") (23 U.S.C. Section <br />133) and the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program ("CMAQ") (23 <br /> <br />U.S.C. Section 149); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to TEA 21, and the regulations promulgated thereunder, <br /> <br />eligible project sponsors wishing to receive SIP or CMAQ improvement grants for a <br /> <br />project shall submit an application first with the appropriate metropolitan transportation <br /> <br />planning organization ("MPO"), for review and inclusion in the MPO's Transportation <br /> <br />Improvement Program ("TIP"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission ("MTC") is the MPO <br /> <br />for the San Francisco Bay region; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is an eligible project sponsor fef'cthe SIP <br /> <br />program and the CMAQ Improvement Program funds; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City wishes to submit a grant application to <br /> <br />MTC for funds from the SIP or CMAQ Improvement Program in fiscal year 1999-2000, <br /> <br />Reso-816 <br />F: I Shared R ed wood/C oun cil <br />FXS:djk <br />01126/00 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />..-...._.. .'-..r <br />
