.;

-5 :r~~

In geographical order around the Bay, counter-clockwise from
the north, the projects proposed for funding are as follows:

City of Novato~ Hamilton Field Bay Trail Plan ($S3~300):
The City of Novato is requesting a planning grant for the Ham-
ilton Field portion of the Bay Trail, which extends for a dis-
tance of approximately three miles. Funds would be used to
identify the best alignment through Hamilton Field, with con-
nections to the San Rafael and Bel Marin Keys portions of the
Bay Trail. This alignment will provide the only public access to
San Pablo Bay through Hamilton Field.

City of Sausalito~ Dunphy Park Expansion ($15~OOO): The
City of Sausalito would like to acquire two parcels totaling
2.45 acres adjacent to Dunphy Park on the waterfront. The par-
cels are located on the shoreline and are cun-ently for sale. Ac-
quisition of the property would be a beneficial addition to Dun-
phy Park. Funds provided under this grant program would be
used to obtain a site survey and an appraisal of the properties.

City and County of San Francisco, Hunters Point Shipyard
Bay Trail Project ($100,000): The ~an Francisco Redevelop-
ment Agency has been leading the planning efforts for the clo-
sure of Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The reuse plan for the
Shipyard includes a trail linking the Shipyard to the Bay Trail.
Because the Shipyard is a superfund site, it will be many years
before the toxic materials in the soils along the waterfront por-
tion of the property can be sufficiently cleaned up to allow safe
public use. The Redevelopment Agency is seeking funds from
the Conservancy to develop an interim alignment of the Bay
Trail to serve at least until the prefen-ed alignment along the
waterfront can be developed. The proposal includes design and
construction of 1.25 miles of trail, which will connect with Pier
98 on the northern end, and to an existing Bay Trail bicycle
route on the southern end that leads to Candlestick Point Rec-
reation Area.

Redwood City~ Steinberger Slough Trail ($90,000): Red-
wood City is proposing to construct approximately 1,600 linear
feet of trail along the Bay Trail alignment. The project includes
construction of a 10-foot-wide decomposed granite trail along
the top of the Steinberger Slough levee. The trail will connect
with existing Bay Trail on the northern end, effectively com-
pleting the Trail around the Redwood Shores peninsula, a dis-
tance of approximately four miles.

ill-7

EXHIBIT 8

........,..........
