The Shipyard was closed by the U.S. Navy in 1994
and returned to the City and County of San Francisco.
The Master Plan for the Shipyard's redevelopment carls for
the construction of a recreational trail within the former'
Shipyard site. This improvement will be designed to
provide access to one of the wetland sites proposed for
Parcel B at the Shipyard and connect the Shipyard with
Candlestick Point. This project is a key improvement
within a neighborhood that has often been ignored by local
government and development interest. The construction
of recreational trails improvement is a critical element of a
social responsible and equitable redevelopment effort.

The Bayview Hunters Point Project Area Committee ;s
requesting that should the Agency receive the grant, every
effort be made to hire people within the Bayview Hunters
Point community for any jóbs that are created for this
project.

We whole-heartedly support this project and look forward
to any additional inquiries you might have regarding our
involvement.

Sincerely,
\) ~ - . i. \
¡-",'r.\""'1 """'/' 1'1
--\..,'i,~",¡"'::~":'/.(.,-. ¡ I ",,-' ", - '~"":.:/",.i
. \:

Sophenia Maxwell
Chair
Bayview Hunter's Point
Project Area Committee (PAC)

III-26

EXHIBIT B

, '-r-'-"-' "-""T"
