The Shipyard was
closed by the U. S. ,Navy in 1994 and returned to the City and County of San
Francisco. The Master Plan for the Shipyard's redevelopment calls for the
construction of a recreational trail within the former Shipyard site. This
improvement wi/J be designed to provide access to one of the wetland'sites
proposed for Parcel 8 at the Shipyard and connect the Shipyard with Candlestick
. Point. This project is a key improvement within a neighborhood that has often been
ignored by local government and development interest. The construction of
recreational trails improvement is a critical element of a social responsible and
equitable re~evelopr'nent effort.

The Bayview Hunters Citizens Advisory Committee is requesting that should the
Agency receive the grant, every effort be made to hire people within the Bayview
Hunters Point community for any jobs that are created for this project.

We whole-heartedly support this project and look forward to any additional inquiries
you might have regarding our involvement.
