 C-3
Fiscal Impacts
According to the funding agreement mentioned earlier, the County will fund all design
and construction activities for this project, and reimburse the City for these expenses.
To get a head-start to build the project during a favorable season of the year, the
design of this project has already been paid for from City funds. After making design
adjustments to account for drainage issues, the total project cost (design, construction
and administration) is $1,030,000. This amount is significantly higher than the
$733,379 the County originally anticipated to pay. Discussions are on-going to see if
additional funding may be available, and if cutting some appurtenances from the
project is a possible alternative. If the County and other supporting organizations
cannot identify additional funding sources, the City may have to fund the difference.
Because funds were already spent for the design and no reimbursement has yet been
received, there is presentfy an insuffic'rent balance to cover this corrtract ($767, t 87
available vs. $776,202 contract amount for a shortfall of $9,015). By approving this
award of contract, the Council will also instruct staff to expend the funding, which will
exceed the existing budget. Funds from reserve accounts will be used to pay the
contractor until reimbursement is received from the County. This is being done in
anticipation of the approval of the Supplemental budget amendment, which will be
presented to this Council for approval in June.
The cost for maintenance and scheduling of the field after project completion is in the
City's Operating budget of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services
Department.
 l" -
S.
