<br />ßA-IO <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Ensure that the needs and resources of public housing authorities are <br />included in a comprehensive planning effort to revitalize distressed <br />neighborhoods and help low-income residents locally. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />Integrate efforts to identify and take measures to overcome impediments <br />to fair housing as an integral part of the City's comprehensive planning <br />efforts. <br /> <br />Action Plan <br />During Fiscal Year 2000/2001, Redwood City expects to receive approximately <br />$946,000 in CDBG funds and $399,000 in HOME funds. These funds will be combined <br />with approximately $400,000 in Revolving Program Income to provide numerous <br />housing, community development, economic development and supportive services to <br />Redwood City residents. <br /> <br />Citizen Participation <br />The City used an open Citizens Participation approaching the development of the <br />Consolidated Plan. The process solicited input from <br />. the low and moderate population which would be served by the Plan, <br />. service providers who would be instrumental in delivering many of the <br />programs and services identified as needs, and <br />. decision makers who ultimately would create policy to facilitate affordable <br />housing and an improved quality of life for Redwood City residents. <br /> <br />Several Public Hearings were held by the Housing and Human Concerns Committee, <br />public meetings by the Planning Commission and the final Public Hearing before the City <br />Council for the adoption of the Consolidated Plan and One Year Action Plan. During the <br />30-day review period, the draft plan was distributed to numerous service organizations, <br />neighborhood associations, and community facilities including City Libraries and <br />community centers. <br /> <br />An Executive Summary was made available on the City's website at redwoodcity.org. <br /> <br />COMMUNITY PROFILE <br /> <br />Redwood City is located in the Bay Area 25 miles south of San Francisco, is home to <br />approximately 76,600 people, to several high tech computer companies, is the oldest <br />bays ide city in San Mateo County, incorporated in 1867, and has been the County Seat <br />since 1856. The City combines residential, industrial, and commercial elements in a <br />largely urban environment. Redwood City's waterfront provides a yacht harbor and the <br />only deep-water port in the South Bay. San Mateo County's two largest industry <br />divisions, services and trade, are expected to provide approximately two-thirds of <br />anticipated growth in the next two years. <br /> <br />Redwood City is an entitlement city, receiving direct allocations of Community <br />Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership funds from the U.S. <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br /> <br />The population of Redwood City is 76,600, making it the third largest city in population in <br />San Mateo County. Within the City's sphere of influence is North Fair Oaks, located in <br />the unincorporated area of Redwood City, with an additional population of 14,097. <br /> <br />A-2 <br />
