,9I-l.

Golf Course, the new Franklin development in San Mateo. Due to timing and other
restrictions, no serious discussions have taken place to further consider these sites.

With no serious offers to take the soil stockpile material, contract documents have been
completed by Engineering and Construction to remove the material, either at an
approved landfill or for reuse. The contract documents are now ready for
advertisement. The Engineer's Estimate for the project is $425,000.

A complete copy of the Contract Documents is available for review in Engineering and
Construction.

Approval will allow the City to close out the remaining accounts relating to the grade
separation, and get rid of a large unsightly mound of dirt. Because the soil was
"tainted" with hydrocarbon contaminates, we have asked the City Attorney's Office to
recover all costs for disposal of contaminated soils from responsible parties. These
include Arco, Glenn Greer, and Union Pacific Railroad (formerly Southern Pacific ).

Fiscal Impacts
Sufficient funds are appropriated in the 1996/1997 Capital Improvement Program
Budget to cover the estimated $425,000 cost of this project, and reimbursable from
Transportation Grants as part of the Jefferson Avenue Underpass Project.

LP~-

Brian Lee
Senior Civil Engineer

/-- .

"'
.. ,
v

-- /
.
