The <br /> first reason was the fact that the Specifications call for a proprietary piece of <br /> equipment, which the supplier took advantage of. The price of the same piece of <br /> equipment, more than doubled, between RTSOP 1 and this project. The specification <br /> will be modified to allow for alternatives, allowing more competition. Unfortunately, this <br /> also means that our maintenance crew may have to deal with more than one brand of <br /> the same equipment. The second reason is the uncertainty of the design of the central <br /> radio receiver, which the Consultant will clarify prior to re-bidding. <br /> Fiscal Impacts <br /> A Federal Grant in an amount of $292,000 will be used for this project, and will be <br /> reimbursed to the City by Caltrans.
