Mr.-Ryan, <br />after City Councilman James M. Eva stressed the fact that it was <br />so essential for all playground supervisors to be thoroughly <br />investigated for moral 'character and background before being <br />permitted to work on the-playgrounds, assured the group that all <br />supervisors were investigated-by the W. P. A., but that as a <br />further-check Mr. MOrton would be permitted to interview them <br />before accepting them for employment in Redwood City. <br /> <br />The Parks and Playground sites covered under this <br />program would be: <br /> <br />Hawes Park, Chestnut Street Playground, Mezes-P1aza <br />Playground, Sequoia Union High School p'ark, Emerald Lake Bowl, <br />Lincoln School, MCKinley School, John Gill School, Washington <br />School, Garfield School, and the Yacht Harbor. While the Gar- <br />field School was out of the City limits it was felt that it <br />would be advisable to include it in the program. <br /> <br />Mr. Bogie moved that the Recreation Commission-reco,- <br />mend to the City Council that they submit the project to- W. P..A. <br />Mr. Van Gundy seconded the motion, and it was unanimously carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hagan asked that he might be excused at 8:55 in <br />order that he might keep an appointment. <br /> <br />City Manager Dimmitt was not ready to make his report <br />on a possible playground site in the Five Points District, nor <br />a site for the proposed community center, so that the matter was <br />held over until the next meeting. <br /> <br />Recreation Director MOrton's Report #3 was acknowledged. <br /> <br />'" <br /> <br />In reference to the item of constructing a rifle range, <br />Chairman Millington directed Mr. MOrton to invite either police <br />Officer Douglass or Sargeant Wood to the next meeting to inform <br />the group of the Police Department's plans for the proposed rifle <br />range. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />An alley for Bocci Ball was another item for considera- <br />tion in Mr. MOrton's report. It was decided that this item would <br />be covered under the W. P. A. program if it is accepted, and .for <br />that reason, not to take any action on this proposal at this time. <br /> <br />There was discussion of a survey to bE;! made in-the gram- <br />mar schools, the high school, and Mt. CaDme1 School, to determine <br /> <br />just which recreational activities the children in the community <br />would be interested in, and other valuable data.
