Herkner said we should not consider a boxey building. City Manager James E. Neal agreed that is why we froze the $22,500.00, and that we should determine "what we want on the Baird Property and go along on a business like basis. :..' " i ¡ , , . City Manager James Neal said we have a second item to present to yœu this evening and he presented Art Eskelin,who again discussed the Val- ota Road extension which would cut in a portion of Community Park and continue on to st. Francis street. After a great deal of discussion the Park and Recreation Commission opposed the ,use of Park ,property for the re-routing of Valota Road. Councilman S. D. Herkner said he was not 'in favor of condemning recreation properties. Chairman Alyn Beals read a letter from the City Manager requesting the commission's 6pinion on a uniform type of architecture for all build- ings at Community Park. A telephone call from Mrs. Balzarini stating that Pasco was ill and on- able to attend the meeting. Old Business: A report was made by Alfred Morton that the fencing on Hetch Hetchy right of way off Carson and the Westwood Park area have been completed. A report on the Fleishman Playground'was made in the absence of the Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini that the project is appromimately half completed. , Alfred Morton reported that the Myrtle street parking area has been pav- ed but he did not know whether the Engineering Department had accepted the project as completed. Alfred Morcon reported that the Dickey street parking area had been completed. ~ There was nothing to report on the Center for Senior citizens except what was discussed previously in the meeting. Catherine Brennan said there was nothing to report on the Rose Garden at this time. The commissioners recommended that a letter be sent to the City Mana- ger asking the status of speed-trap at the Dickey street Parking lot to curb the speed of traffic. Recreation Director Alfred Morton stated that the Recreation Department will have a great deal of conflicts in the City-School joint program again this oyear due to the interference of Little League practice sess- ions. He requested the Chairman to appoint a committee to investigate the problems and report back at the next meeting.
