29 , COMMENTS FROM THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSIONERS, PARK S'UPER- INTENDENT, RECREATION DIRECTOR PERTAINING TO OLp OR NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Morton reported that Mr. Bernard Nobler had been app- ointed as -architect for Baird Property Recreation Building. Mr. MOrton presented 2 different drawings of proposed build- ing - one similar to Veterans' Bldg. construction and one of a less costly type construction - and said both have same floor space. Mr. MOrton suggested that Commission go to MOuntain View and see its new Recreation Bldg. He also pre- sented floor plans of proposed b9i1ding and explained what building would contain: a) b) c) d) Large Auditorium 2 multi-use rooms (40' x 44', and two sized 321 x 44' - the latter two could be expanded into one room when needed) large kitchen Office space for Recreation Department Chairman Beals appointed Jack Stuart as chairman and Doris Thompson as a committee to work with Mr. Morton for study other cities buildings and plans and to look at the Mt. View building. Mr. Morton asked that a recommendation be ready from the Commission at its September meeting. Mr. MOrton said he would notify Mr. Nobler to hold off his work until after September meeting. Commissioner Jasper Sipes reported that he had attended Marina Committee meeting and that he had suggested new launching ramp at Marina; that Councilman Petersen had urged parking lot there be paved right away; that feasib- ility study is planned for installation of 100 more berths at Marina; that Committee was considering another loan from State for improvements to area; that City had bid for new Harbormaster's house for $11,000; that Port had requested transfer of Marina property for Port use. ChairmanBea1s suggested ~hat Mr. Spies request Marina Committee to con- sider a fishing pier for children at the Marina. Mr. Sipes as Commission representative to Regional Planning Committee of S.M. County-Waterways Sub-Committee, reported on meeting attended, and that meeting had dealt principally with po11- ution and that speaker said Bay would be a cesspool by 1990 if sewage continued polluting the Bay; also that speaker had said eventual solution would be to have sewage pumped out into the ocean. Commissioner Thompson, representative to Regional Planning Co~ittee of S.M. County City and County Parks Sub-committee reported on meeting attended when following cities had re- ported on park and recreation facilities and future plans:
