<br />29 <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />COMMENTS FROM THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSIONERS, PARK S'UPER- <br />INTENDENT, RECREATION DIRECTOR PERTAINING TO OLp OR NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Morton reported that Mr. Bernard Nobler had been app- <br />ointed as -architect for Baird Property Recreation Building. <br />Mr. MOrton presented 2 different drawings of proposed build- <br />ing - one similar to Veterans' Bldg. construction and one of <br />a less costly type construction - and said both have same <br />floor space. Mr. MOrton suggested that Commission go to <br />MOuntain View and see its new Recreation Bldg. He also pre- <br />sented floor plans of proposed b9i1ding and explained what <br />building would contain: <br /> <br />a) <br />b) <br /> <br />c) <br />d) <br /> <br />Large Auditorium <br />2 multi-use rooms (40' x 44', and two sized 321 x <br />44' - the latter two could be expanded into one <br />room when needed) <br />large kitchen <br />Office space for Recreation Department <br /> <br />Chairman Beals appointed Jack Stuart as chairman and Doris <br />Thompson as a committee to work with Mr. Morton for study <br />other cities buildings and plans and to look at the Mt. <br />View building. Mr. Morton asked that a recommendation be <br />ready from the Commission at its September meeting. Mr. <br />MOrton said he would notify Mr. Nobler to hold off his work <br />until after September meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Jasper Sipes reported that he had attended <br />Marina Committee meeting and that he had suggested new <br />launching ramp at Marina; that Councilman Petersen had <br />urged parking lot there be paved right away; that feasib- <br />ility study is planned for installation of 100 more berths <br />at Marina; that Committee was considering another loan from <br />State for improvements to area; that City had bid for new <br />Harbormaster's house for $11,000; that Port had requested <br />transfer of Marina property for Port use. ChairmanBea1s <br />suggested ~hat Mr. Spies request Marina Committee to con- <br />sider a fishing pier for children at the Marina. Mr. Sipes <br />as Commission representative to Regional Planning Committee <br />of S.M. County-Waterways Sub-Committee, reported on meeting <br />attended, and that meeting had dealt principally with po11- <br />ution and that speaker said Bay would be a cesspool by 1990 <br />if sewage continued polluting the Bay; also that speaker had <br />said eventual solution would be to have sewage pumped out <br />into the ocean. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thompson, representative to Regional Planning <br />Co~ittee of S.M. County City and County Parks Sub-committee <br />reported on meeting attended when following cities had re- <br />ported on park and recreation facilities and future plans: <br /> <br />
