Tr ibune story on cinnabar IIfindll at Stulsaft Park, Chairman Beals stated that he had had a meeting with City Manager Neal today and that no fur- ther information was available. Mr. Beals urged that Comm- ission recommend specific use of any monies realized from any sale of ore. On motion of Mr. Stuart, seconded by Mr. Knecht, the Commission recommends that if any money is re- ceived from the sale of cinnabar ore at Stulsaft Park that said money be spent for beautifying and finishing Stulsaft Park according to the plans approved in 1961. Passed. Mr. Beals asked action on the Mt. Alverno hillside property for a park site as recommended by Planning Director Dick Wilkinson for the Planning Commission. Mr. Stuart moved that we thank Mr. Wilkinson, and the Planning Commission for their interest in park'sites but that we as a Commission would like to point out that we have a canyon type of park within two blocks of the Mt. Alverno property with similar terrain and that we would prefer consideration be given to an approximate 400' strip on the proposed Farm Hills Blvd. extension near the proposed Eden Bower extánsion as being a site that could be used to greater advantage and one that would more readily tie in with an open space program by pro- viding a playground type park for the area, seconded by Mr. Knecht and passed. Chairman Beals suggested the deletion of our Commission mem- ber from the Marina Committee as the Marina Committee had originally been established by Councilman Royer when he was Mayor to get things going at the Marina and that there is dual control under the Marina Committee and the Park and Recreation Departments. On motion of James Knecht, second- ed by Doris TDompson, the Park and Recreation Commission recommends that our member be deleted from the Special Committee appointed by the Mayor on the Municipal Marina.
