<br />Commissioner Thompson reported that she had written a number

<br />of letters on the subject; had received some good information
<br />on possible ordinances; and particularly good help from the
<br />City Attorney, Mr. Randolph, of San Mateo; was having infor-
<br />mation duplicated and would send each commissioner said in-
<br />formation; and asked,that suggestions and recommendations be
<br />ready for the December meeting. Mr. Balzarini stated that
<br />approximately 15 oak trees were being lost each year in the
<br />City.

<br />BAIRD PROPERTY REPORT:
<br />
<br />Commissioner Stuart reported on his presentation to the
<br />Council at the Study meeting of November 1st when archi-
<br />tects drawings and plans, proposed outside building mater-
<br />ial and concrete ,tile roof sample 'was presented by Mr. Ber-
<br />nard Nobler. Mr. Stuart said that 10 to 15% of the cost
<br />

<br />could be saved if the project was completed in a one phase
<br />program as opposed to a three phase one. He stated that
<br />the Council had discussed the project for a short while and
<br />then continued the matter for the Nov. 8th Study session.
<br />He noted that Commissioners Knecht and Thompson had also
<br />attended the session and that financing information would
<br />probably not be available until sometime in December.

<br />Commissioner Stuart, Chairman, will consult with Mr. Morton,

<br />PRO SOCCER:
<br />
<br />
<br />Mr. Morton stated that as only 3,700 seats could be provided
<br />in the available are~ in Community Park and as soccer teams
<br />would need a minim~ of 5;000 to 6,000 seats to bre~ even
<br />that it seemed pro-soccer was doomed for Redwood City. Comm-
<br />issioner Whitmore expressed concern that we could not acc-
<br />ommodate the pro-soccer group.

<br />CHESTNUT PLAYGROUND SWITCH:

<br />Chairman Beals stated that in view of costs involved for re-
<br />locating Chestnut Playground to Elm Street near Hilton as in-
<br />dicated in a letter from Ass't. City Manager Howard Ullrich
<br />and which encompassed a report from Mr. Fenton Mee, that the
<br />Commission had agreed at it's Oct. 6th meeting not to go a-
<br />head with the switch but to instead beautify and refurbish
<br />
