Mrs. Thompson urged in- stallation of the fishing pier as a most important addition to the Marina and one that would get a lot of use. P ~~ pv.rERIN1]:'~~Pv~NT BALTZAR):,~¡: Announced that the Na ti ve Da ugh ter s of the Golden West would, as usual, have a tree planting ceremony on Arbor Day, and that he had suggested the donating of six or sev- en Redwood trees for their planting at "Laurie Duncan Parkll (Brew- ster & Ne~da Streets) to tie in with a grove of trees already at the park. Mr. Balzarini felt that the additional trees would hamper youngsters from using this park for a football field, a use for which the park was never intended.- Mr. Balzarini and Mr. Morton told the Commission that over 300 sprinkler heads had disappeared from this park during the past few years, prásumably so that they would not interfere with the football games, and that this removal of the sprinkler heads had been a costly replacement item for the Park De- partment as they were necessary for watering of the lawn area. Mr. Balzarini asked Commission approval to furnish the Redwood trees mentioned above, which approval was granted; Mr. ,Balzarini referred to the letter from the City of San Mateo and its tree planting program which he felt would be the subject of the Mayor's request to the Council for a similar program for Redwood City at its meeting on Feb. 14th. Mrs. Thompson will attend the Council meeting and report back to the Commission: Mr. Balzarini presented a chart showing the re-organization of his department which defined the delegation of authority in the Park Department as follows: Park Superintendent - Pasco Balzarini Asst.
