<br />94 <br /> <br /> <br />Elliot & Assoc. were low bidders - Base Bid: $219,000: plus 2 <br />alternates: kitchen equipment, $12,600 and TV and sound outlets <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(public address system)-$600. Total: $23,1,900. Work to start <br />immediately and completion expected by Feb. I, 1967. Architect's <br />estimate had been $248,000: that he and Commissioner Thompson had <br />been at Aug. 1st Council meeting for bid announcement. Mr. Stuart <br />thanked his committee for their fine job and interest on the build- <br />ing plans and hoped that commdttee would follow project through <br />to completion and keep the Commission in- <br />formed on progress. Chairman Beals asked that c,lose look bß given <br />to colors and construction. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Stuart suggested that we ask City to establish delegation of <br />authority and responsibility for operation of the building so that <br />it is clearly established just who is responsible for establishing <br />rules, rates, supervision, etc., for its use - Council, Park and <br />Recreation Commission, City Manager? The secretary was asked to <br />write City Manager Ullrich. (8-10-66) <br /> <br />It was suggested that City Manager be asked to includ~ all past <br />and present commissioners in invitations to goundbreaking cere- <br />monies. (Mr. Morton to follow through). Secretary was asked to <br />compliment Council and City Manager on project and for its early <br />start tow~rds completion. (8-10-66). <br /> <br />AGENDA 3 - ROSE GARDEN, DORIS THOMPSON: Mrs. Thompson asked if <br />any information had been received re our request to City Manager <br />on May 12th concerning Rose Garden. None. Mrs. Thompson stated <br />that she understood that offers had been made for free rose bushes <br />from a rose hybridizer: that the peninsula Rose Society had ver- <br />bally offered to prune roses for demonstration privileges: that <br />cost of maintenance would not be too high (cultivating-spraying- <br />feeding, etc.) if properly developed and landscaped rose garden <br />was installed in the first place and with a permanent sprinkler <br />system. Mrs. Thompson was asked to foilow through on possible <br />donations for a Rose Garden. <br /> <br />AGENDA 4 - HOOVER'SCHOOL (POOL), RED MORTON: Mr. Morton said he <br />thought this project would be re-presented for bid: that interim <br />solution of bussing youngsters to Community Park pool had had <br />good response on a 12:30 run - some, 55-67 youngsters taking ad- <br />vantage of the bussing-but that 2nd afternoon run had been dis- <br />continued because of lack of interest. <br /> <br />AGENDA 5 - PARK SIGNS, JACK STUART: <br /> <br />Item held to Sept. meeting. <br /> <br />AGENDA 6 - REDWOOD SHORES, HOWARD ULLRICH.
