IGENDA 6a - RE MEETING WITH LOU SCHERER, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS, CONCERNING STRAIGHTENING OF CREEK AT COMMUNITY PARK: Mr. Balzarini announced meeting for tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. (Aug. 14) at Mr. Scherer's office and that he (~. ISLANDS - Mr. Balzarini said he had no - " orders as yet for planting in these islands but does have author- ization for planting of islands at Jefferson and st. Francis. - AGENDA 7a - RE HIRING OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT FOR PARK DEPARTMENT: Commissioner Thompson suggested hiring of landscape architect for Park Dept. and noted that department does not have such a quali- fied person on its staff and withamany and varied projects pre- sently at hand and coming up - Marine World, multi-purpose build- ing at Community Park: Community Park completion; Easter Cross area: Municipal Marina; Veterans Blvd. Beautification; Stulsaft Park, new Library; tree planting programs by City; new subdivisions; possiple rose garden; landscaping program improvements on private building projects subject to the architectural review board - that it would be to the best interests of the City from a pract- , ical standpoint and an invaluable way to insure an inviting and good city park planning program. On motion of Commissioner Thompson, 'seconded by Commissioner Sipes, it was recommended that consideration be given to the hiring of a landscape architect for the Park Dept. with his services available to the Planning and Engineering Depts. as needed. Passed. Yes: Commissioners Beals, Sipes and Thompson. No: Commissioners Ann Gooding and Stuart. Absent: Commissioners Knecht and Whitmore.
