<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht stressed need for golf courses, stating that <br />municipal golf courses are a good source of city revenue - citing <br />City of San Mateo where much of the monies used for parks and <br />recreation come from golf course income. <br /> <br />Chairman Whitmore suggested thank you letters to members of the <br />Citizens' Committees and the asking of them to continue to serve. <br /> <br />On MOTION of Commissioner Thompson, seconded by Commissioner Knecht, <br />it was ,voted to ask former commissioner, Alyn Beals, to serve as <br />over all chairman of the Citizens' Committees, with the request <br />that within 60 days he.present recommendations for firming up the <br />committees with the thought or preparing for a bond issue. Passed. <br /> <br />Chairman Whit~ore appointed Commissioners Arnett and Stuart to <br />assist Mr. Beals. <br /> <br />6 - DEDICATION OF COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES BUILDING-Jack Stuart: Comm- <br />issioner Stuart announced that dedication ceremonies would be held <br />on May 11th at 11 a.m. and asked Chairman Whitmore to serve as mas- <br />ter of ceremonies. Mr. stuart told that the Hoover School band <br />would participate, as would the Fun After Fifty choral group, Alyn <br />Beals and Mayor Sidney Herkner¡ that refreshments would be served <br />and that invitations had gone out to schools and civic groups. . Mr. <br /> <br />"- <br /> <br /> <br />stuart said that all equipment is in the building(excepting some <br /> <br />~ . <br /> <br />lo~ge furniture and ~airs); that nameplates, clocks, draperies <br />and. black-out drapes had been installed; that landscaping would be <br />finished up when the soil dries out. <br /> <br />Concern, was expressed by commission members over the capital out- <br />lay budget requests which had been deleted by the City Manager for <br />recommendation to the Council. Commissioners felt that the entire <br />complex should be completed immediately. <br /> <br />MOTION: Commissioner James Knecht moved to request Ci ty Manager <br />Ullrich to restore funds to,the 1967-68 Capital Improvement Bud- <br />get which would permit the "Community Activities Building-' pro- <br />ject complex to be completed with its landscaping, additional park- <br />ing area, rose garden, lawn bowling and bocci ball court as re- <br />quested in Park and Recreation preliminary budget requests and in <br />addition to the $1,400 presently approved for recommendation to <br />the Council by the City Manager for the golf driving range, sec- <br />onded by Commissioner Jack Stuart, and passed.
