Pasco Balzarini - said work would start tomorrow on landscaping in back of CAB building. Red Morton - said it was hoped that the Hoover School pool would be finished by August 15th. Commissioner Thompson told of youngsters entering the pool area one evening via a long ladder and of seeing shoes and other de- bris being thrown over top of enclosure. Mr. MOrton told that adobe clods are thrown into pool during nighttime and pool has to be vacummed in morning. Vandalism problem was discussed and suggestions for minimizing it was discussed including poss- ibility of use of closed circuit TV. Commissioner Gooding told of use of clo~ed circuit TV in schools in some areas had cut vandalism by 80% in one year. Commis.$ioner Arnett - On motion of Conunissioner Dixon Arne-tt, secondè~ by Conunissioner Doris Thompson, the following resol- ution was adopted: "WHEREAS, the PARK DEPARTMENT of REDWOOD CITY has invested valuablé talent in the City's representation at the San Mateo County Fair and Floral Fiesta: and WHEREAS, the PARK DEPARTMENT has brought great honor to the City through the ribbons and awards won on its 1967 outdoor garden entry: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the the Redwood City Park and Recreation Conunission formally offers its congratulations .and gratitude to PARK SUPERINTENDENT, PASCO BALZARINI, and to PARK FOREMAN #2, JOHN YOSHIDA, and to THE DEPARTMENT STAFF, for- their outstanding and talented service." (8-8-67) Commissioner ThompsOn - noted 'messy grounds at Stanford Crew Building at Marina and fire hazard which existed because of dried weeds, debris, etc. Commissioner Arnett said he had contacted students re improvement of this leasehold: that lease expires in Sept. this year but will continue on an automatic continuation from month to month: that wh~n Fall quarter begins plans will be presented for a capital campaign for constructing of a new structure. The Stanford Crew Building is a student project, not one of the university, and monies would have to come from donations from alumni, students, etc. It .. was noted that the Stanford ramp was also in unsafe condition.
