<br /> <br />" feZ <br /> <br />,\ <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Knecht told of great use being made of Chestnut Playground <br />and commended Mr. MOrton for providing a recreation supervisor <br />to oversee the activities. <br /> <br />Pasco Balzarini - said work would start tomorrow on landscaping <br />in back of CAB building. <br /> <br />Red Morton - said it was hoped that the Hoover School pool <br />would be finished by August 15th. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thompson told of youngsters entering the pool area <br />one evening via a long ladder and of seeing shoes and other de- <br />bris being thrown over top of enclosure. Mr. MOrton told that <br />adobe clods are thrown into pool during nighttime and pool has <br />to be vacummed in morning. Vandalism problem was discussed <br />and suggestions for minimizing it was discussed including poss- <br />ibility of use of closed circuit TV. Commissioner Gooding <br />told of use of clo~ed circuit TV in schools in some areas had <br />cut vandalism by 80% in one year. <br /> <br />Commis.$ioner Arnett - On motion of Conunissioner Dixon Arne-tt, <br />secondè~ by Conunissioner Doris Thompson, the following resol- <br />ution was adopted: "WHEREAS, the PARK DEPARTMENT of REDWOOD <br />CITY has invested valuablé talent in the City's representation <br />at the San Mateo County Fair and Floral Fiesta: and <br />WHEREAS, the PARK DEPARTMENT has brought great honor to the <br />City through the ribbons and awards won on its 1967 outdoor <br />garden entry: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the the Redwood City Park and <br />Recreation Conunission formally offers its congratulations .and <br />gratitude to PARK SUPERINTENDENT, PASCO BALZARINI, and to PARK <br />FOREMAN #2, JOHN YOSHIDA, and to THE DEPARTMENT STAFF, for- <br />their outstanding and talented service." The Secretary was <br />asked to send a copy of the resolution to City Manager Ullrich <br />and to members of the City Council. (8-8-67) <br /> <br />Commissioner ThompsOn - noted 'messy grounds at Stanford Crew <br />Building at Marina and fire hazard which existed because of <br />dried weeds, debris, etc. Commissioner Arnett said he had <br />contacted students re improvement of this leasehold: that lease <br />expires in Sept. this year but will continue on an automatic <br />continuation from month to month: that wh~n Fall quarter begins <br />plans will be presented for a capital campaign for constructing <br />of a new structure.
