Paulson had beet) asked t~ inquire if <br />the Fun After Fifty Club was interested in helping develop the <br />Rose Garden project as planned by the Park & Rec. Commission. <br /> <br />Mr..Paulson reported that the board of the Clu~ wants to partici- <br />pate but the question is how and whetñer it would be a minimum <br />arch or gazebo or whatever. Various members of the club told of <br />vandalism problems, fence protection needed with perhaps an arch- <br />way, perhaps other projects for the park, and a "green thumbll <br />program suggested from a trip to Hawaii where senior citizens <br />committed themselves to the park north of the beaches with time <br />scheduled with and under the Park Commission. It was noted that <br />, ~ <br /> <br />-three members had been appointed by Pres. Edith Slack to help <br />with the deisgn - ROy Moritz, Mary Ne1son, and Eleanor _Benson. <br />It was also noted that the Fun After Fifty Club had a memorial <br />fund which was at one time planned to be used as a memorial in <br />the rose garden by installation of some kind of plaque to their <br />memory. <br /> <br />Discussion which followed included welcome of support and interest <br />of the Fun After Fifty Club: that master plan for Community Park <br />should be updated before any new projects are proposed. <br /> <br />Agenda 1: Marina Landscaping Project (Yacht Harbor)-Design, cost <br />estimates, etc., Park Dept: <br />Capital Outlay-Marina Landscaping: parkForeman, John Yoshida, <br />presented estimated costs, inc~uding labor, for landscaping at <br />~årina entrance and at harbormaster'shouse as follows: <br />Plan A (north-at entrance): Materials 1,770 <br />Labor 900 2,670 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Plan B (south-at entrance): Materials 1,400 <br />labor 500 1,900 <br /> <br />. ~ <br /> <br />Plan C (harbormasters house Materials and <br />labor <br /> <br />700 7QQ <br /> <br />.~I <br /> <br />5,270 <br /> <br />(Included in 1967-68 budger: $2,000) <br /> <br />Commissioner Whitmore moved, that we recommend to City Manager <br />for Council consideration, that due to the fact that presently <br />budgeted funds for completion of the Marina landscaping as visual- <br />ized are not sufficient for the project that additional monies <br />be included in the capital outlay budget for 1968-69 so that the <br />project can be completed as proposed, seconded by Commissioner <br />Williams, and passed, Commissioners Knecht and Gooding being noted <br />absent.
