<br /> <br />.¡: <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Item tabled kQ the October meeting with a report from Recreation <br />Director Morton. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />~ . <br />¡ <br /> <br />2 - MASTER PLAN COMMUNITY PARK - Committee Report, Bob Whitmore, <br />Chairman: (Discussion continued from August meeting) <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Whitmore provided written copy of committee re- <br />port to each Commissioner, following which he read report. <br />-- (Copy of report on file with Secretary.) <br /> <br />Questions and discussion included: Status of Police Youth Club <br />Building and reported plans for enlargement - which enlarging <br />would probably negate Park Dept. plans for increasing the size <br />of the barbecue area behind the swimming pool: that city owned <br />Dickey Street which is presently _used as access road for park <br />adjacent to gymnasium building is of sufficient size to permit <br />dual parking; that no estimate is available for hiring of a <br />professional park plannerJ that committee felt services of a <br />park planner at this point was unnecessary: that deficiencies <br />at park-teenage center-family type barbecue areas or picnic <br />spots-activity areas for non-swimmers or baseballers, such as <br />a youngsters wading pool, lawn bowling, etc; that _bym be built <br />with two floors - one for dancing and basketball and one for <br />roller or ice-skating. <br /> <br />Commissioner Whitmore moved that the report be accepted as <br />presented and positive action taken by the Commissio~ on the <br />recommendations, seconded by Commissioner Knecht. Commission- <br />ers Whitmore, Knecht, and Stuart voted YES. Commissioners <br />Thompson, Williams, and Gooding voted NO, Commissioner Morgan <br />being noted absent. For lack of aff~rmative action the motion <br />was defeated. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thompson moved that a committee of three be <br />appointed to meet with the City Manager to discuss the poss~ <br />ibility of and encouraging the hiring of a professional park <br />planner or architect to assist the Commission sub-committee <br />and park and recreation staff in updating the ~ster plan for <br />Community Park, seconded by Commissioner Williams. Commiss- <br />ioners Whitmore, Williams, and Thompson voted YES. Commiss- <br />ioners Knecht, Gooding and Stuart voted NO, Commissioner Morg- <br />an being noted absent. For lack of affirmative action the <br />motion was defeated. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Williams moved to receive the sub-committee report, <br />seconded by Commissioner Gooding. Passed unanimously, Commiss- <br />ioner Morgan being noted absent. <br /> <br />t .
