JJ 1 1 - &..1 .t> ~-...I>-- It.- <br /> <br />that Commissioner Whitmore is the Commission representative to <br />this committee and asked that Mr. Morton so inform Councilman <br />Arnett.) <br /> <br />6 - SPINAS PLAYGROUND RESTROOMS: <br /> <br />- ~ l J. ... <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion was had on the urgent need for restroom facilities <br />at this playgÐound and of the burden presently being placed on <br />the firemen at station #3 to provide and maintain toilet facil- <br />ities for the public users of the playgrounds and of the newly <br />installed tennis courts: that each time a new facility has been <br />added the area use has dramatically increased and is to the <br />point that we can no longer expect the fire department to put <br />up with the burden of restroom use for outsiders and the att- <br />endant problems it involves; that budget request for funds in <br />the present budget for this facility had been deleted. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart moved to urgently request that emergency <br />funds be authorized by Council in the amount of $8,900 for <br />installation of restroom facilities at Spinas Playground at a <br />site between the playground areas and the tennis courts and of <br />the same type as planned for Mezes Park - building with pitched <br />tupe roof with shingles, to conform to neighborhood - seconded <br />by Conunissioner Thompson, and passed, Commissioners Coffis and <br />Morgan being noted absent. <br /> <br />u~~ qf ~m~~x ~rope~ty fo~ ~ennis cour~~~ <br /> <br />Commissioner stuart moved that a letter of thanks be sent to <br />Ampex Corp. for allowing the 6' tennis courts encroachment on <br />their property, seconded by Commissioner Thompson, and passed, <br />Commissioners Coffis and Morgan being noted absent. <br /> <br />7 - STULSAFT PARK: <br /> <br />I 1 "'- L - <br /> <br /> <br />This item was at the request of Commissioner Thompson, and was <br />with regards to "Letter to the Editorll of the Tribune by day- <br />camp supervisors and re some of conditions which exist at Stul- <br />saft-sleeping in park, vandalism, etc. <br /> <br />Director of Recreation MOrton said that letter had been written <br />without the knowledge of the department and that supervisors <br />have been asked that in the future any such comments be cleared <br />through the department; that reason for trimming of branches <br />had been explained to the day-camp supervisors: that day-camp <br />attendance was way down this year. <br /> <br /> <br />Park Superintendent Balzarini explained reasons for trimming <br />away of over-hanging branches was so patrols could see: that <br />several truck loads of mattresses were hauled away from under <br />
