Mr. Knecht said he talked with Mr. Lilly after the meeting and was told that it could be possible to have a golf course under way within a yea~ under a lease arrangement on a bid basis~ Commissioner Thompson added that in Mr. Lilly's talk he had suggested, that in_some instances, park and recreation people were going to have to look at different types of recreation, i.e, motorcycle parks, sites for music IIb~-insll, etc., as we are presently be~ng subIjected to many unusual noisefac~ors which might be less objectionable if proper areas were provided specifically for them. Commissioner Coffis entered meeting at 8:25. 7 - #~~q~T~~ C~9mI~'+:~E}~ ::~I.Rr~~g:r~~~s ~1!e,E.9.~~I~~' ~.P9.Z: i~!l~Ç_. ~ JAq~E¿1J 'hch!_l1l~ Commissioner Thompson said meeting'had been held on Oct. 27th with full committee present; that it had been confirmed that a great many capital outlay requests had been turned down, and one re-in~ stated; that both park and recreation departments in several in- stances were. attempting to work out some urgently needed projects ,from supplies and services accounts and which will cause these accounts to suffer; that committee is most concerned with under- manned recreation and park staffs,the park department being part- icularly understaffed according to norms of 4-5 acres perman as we are operating on a 10 acres per man basis - ,twice the norm; that park department is geared to maintenance only but has been for a long time involved in heavy construction schedules; and sufficient staff is available. Mrs. Thompson said that this in- formation was a progress report which would be implemented with further meetings and studies and. that no committee recommendation was being made at this time.
