~ Contact Underground Service Alert (USA) a minimum of 48 hours prior to job site
mobilization to advise subscribing utility companies of the soil excavation and
sampling activities. Review project utility plans as provided by MTCo.

b) Field Activities
The following field activities will be perfonned during the sampling activities.

Aerial Deposited Lead

>- Excavate 33 hand auger borings to a maximum depth of 2.5 feet below ground
surface within the proposed interchange modification areas. Soil samples collected
from a to 0.5 foot, 1 to 1.5 feet, and 2.0 to 2.5 feet below ground surface and will be
submitted for laboratory analysis.

>- Transfer all samples to zip-lock plastic bags after collection. Label and transport
sample bags to a California-certified environmental laboratory, utilizing standard
chain-of-custody procedures. Disposal of contaminated samples is not included in the
base services proposed herein.

>- Provide quality assurance /quality control (QNQC) procedures during the field
activities. These procedures will include cleaning the sampling equipment between
each soil boring by brushing the auger/sampler with a wire brush to remove all visible
soil residuals or by washing the equipment with a trisodium phosphate solution
followed by a tap water rinse.

>- Backfill the borings to surface grade with the hand-auger cuttings.

>- Provide traffic control for shoulder closures as required by Caltrans (if necessary).

Hazardous Waste Materials

,

Advance a total of eight (8) borings, four borings in the vicinity of the subteITanean
under crossing and four borings in the area of the proposed retaining wall near the
Belmont Corporation Yard release site. The borings will be located within the
existing or planned right-of-ways. A continuous soil core will be collected from each
boring. Soil samples will be selected for submission to the laboratory at approximate
3-foot intervals or at significant changes in lithology, within zones of apparent soil
impacts based on field observations (odor, discoloration, and/or organic vapor
analyzer readings). Selected portions of the continuous soil core will be field screened
for. volatile org:mic compounds using a phowlOnization detector (PID). The field
geologist will choose two samples per boring to be submitted for laboratory analysis
based on observation and PID readings. The remaining soil samples selected for
submission to the laboratory will be held by the bboratory pending analytical results
of the analyzed soil samples. Each boring WIll be advanced approximately 3-foot into
the saturated 70ne. The saturated zone is c\rectcd to occur at I to 12 feet belmv

City of Bdmol1( - Rowe I iJ I/Rais(ol1 A VI' IC ,'yfodijìcaÚo!1\
Proposal - PS& E

iJ -:/iJ(¡/iJiJ

()
